A vehicle lift turns an ordinary car into a suspended load. This concise course shows technicians how to check a short-platform scissor lift, position the vehicle correctly, prove stability and keep clear while the lift moves — without unnecessary jargon.
Short-platform scissor lifts are used every day in workshops, tyre bays and repair centres. Familiarity can make the job feel routine, but incorrect positioning, damaged equipment, an unsuitable vehicle or an improvised lifting block can cause a vehicle to move or fall.
The course covers sensible pre-use checks, vehicle and lift compatibility, approved lifting blocks, correct positioning, low-height stability checks, safe working and controlled lowering.
Important: This is safety-awareness training. It does not by itself authorise anyone to operate a lift. The employer must provide lift-specific instruction, practical familiarisation, assessment and authorisation using the actual equipment and workplace procedure.
Approximately 30 minutes. Includes five lessons, a 10-question assessment and a Certificate of Completion. Recommended refresher: every 12 months, or sooner after relevant change, incident, near miss, unsafe observation or concern about competence.
