Diisocyanates are respiratory sensitisers and can cause occupational asthma, dermatitis and serious irritation. Safe use depends on the exact product, concentration, process, temperature, ventilation and exposure route.

This UK-focused course covers the prescribed general training elements: chemistry and products; labels and safety data sheets; health effects and sensitisation; exposure factors; prevention and engineering controls; hygiene; PPE/RPE use and limitations; leaks, first aid, waste, supervision and renewal records.

Course structure: seven lessons followed by a separate course-level 12-question final assessment. The pass mark is 80% and retakes are allowed.

Training-level boundary: successful completion records general-level knowledge only. It does not cover intermediate or advanced tasks, select product-specific COSHH controls, prove practical competence or grant employer authorisation. Employers must select the correct training level for the exact product and task.
