Food handler checking an ingredient label on a prepacked sandwich before placing it in a chilled UK café display

Food allergen information is safety-critical. This course explains the UK requirements commonly known as Natasha’s Law and shows staff how to recognise PPDS food, use the correct ingredients information, emphasise regulated allergens, control recipe and supplier changes, answer customers honestly and stop products when labels are missing or uncertain.

What you will cover

  • Why Natasha’s Law matters and the limits of awareness training
  • Recognising prepacked for direct sale food
  • Food categories and distance-selling duties
  • The 14 regulated allergens
  • Building and checking a PPDS label
  • Recipe, supplier and change control
  • Preventing cross-contact and answering customers
  • Verification, incidents and stop-sale action

Course structure

Complete eight lessons followed by a separate course-level 12-question final assessment. The pass mark is 80% and retakes are unlimited.

Training boundary: successful completion records awareness only. It does not authorise a learner to approve recipes or labels and does not replace role-specific instruction, controlled information, practical competence assessment, supervision or employer authorisation.
