Workshop operator using a guarded hydraulic press with the workpiece centred and hands outside the pressing zone

Hydraulic presses make difficult work look effortless—but poor support, improvised tooling, off-centre loads or uncontrolled intervention can release enormous force without warning.

This seven-lesson awareness course gives operators and supervisors a practical framework for capacity, tooling, guarding, setup, controlled pressing, isolation, checks and emergency response.

Important: Employers must still provide the exact machine instructions, suitable practical training, supervision and task authorisation. Completion does not confer competence to operate an unfamiliar press, design tooling or maintain hydraulic systems.
