Dermatitis Safety Awareness

Damaged hands are not an unavoidable part of workshop work. Oils, fuels, cleaners, degreasers, solvents, adhesives, fillers, dust and repeated washing can all break down the skin.

This straight-talking course shows workshop staff how to spot dermatitis early, prevent contact, use gloves and skin-care controls properly, and report symptoms before they become a long-term problem.

What you will learn

• Recognise irritant and allergic contact dermatitis and the early warning signs.
• Identify common workshop substances and indirect routes of skin exposure.
• Control exposure before relying on gloves.
• Use task-specific gloves, washing and moisturising arrangements correctly.
• Report symptoms early and understand skin checks and health surveillance.
