Technician wearing safety glasses operating a guarded brake disc skimming lathe in a vehicle workshop.

Brake disc and drum skimming lathes combine rotating work, sharp cutters, hot components, electricity, ejected debris and potentially harmful brake dust.

This UK-focused course explains the limits of online awareness, safe dust cleaning, pre-use inspection, secure mounting, controlled machining, dimensional checks, shutdown, isolation and defect reporting for on-car and bench-mounted equipment.

Course structure: six lessons followed by a course-level ten-question final assessment. Passing confirms awareness only. It does not prove practical competence or provide employer authorisation to operate, maintain or set up a brake lathe.
