Brake and clutch servicing can expose automotive technicians and others to potentially harmful friction dust. This course explains how to check the vehicle and job, resolve asbestos uncertainty, make the vehicle safe and control contamination before a drum, cover or housing is disturbed.
Learners work through purpose-designed contained cleaning or an employer-approved wet-rag method, pre-use checks, PPE and assessed RPE, chemical controls, wet-rag and component waste, decontamination, stop-work rules and incident response.
Course structure: seven substantive lessons followed by a separate course-level 12-question final assessment. The pass mark is 80% and retakes are unlimited after review.
Competence boundary: this online course supports hazard awareness and knowledge only. It does not authorise asbestos work, sampling, friction-material grinding or drilling, vehicle lifting or practical brake or clutch maintenance. Employers must provide task-specific assessment, practical instruction, observed competence and written authorisation.
