Vehicle technician preparing a coil spring compressor safely in a professional workshop

A coil spring stores energy. If the spring, compressor or an attachment slips, that energy can be released suddenly, violently and unpredictably.

This concise course gives vehicle technicians and workshop supervisors the decisions they need to remember: use the exact approved system, control the direct and ricochet paths, apply load gradually and stop before improvising under load.

You will learn the essential equipment checks, safe positioning, controlled loading and unloading sequence, and what to do if anything shifts, binds or feels wrong.

Important: This is an awareness course. It does not by itself authorise anyone to use a spring compressor or prove practical competence. The equipment manual, current vehicle repair method, workplace risk assessment, safe system of work and local familiarisation still apply.

Approximately 30 minutes. Includes five lessons, a 10-question assessment and a Certificate of Completion. Recommended refresher: every 12 months, or sooner after an incident, near miss, unsafe observation, prolonged non-use, or a change to equipment, instructions or process.
