This course explains how to recognise and control the main hazards from portable oxy-fuel gas equipment used in haulage workshops and vehicle maintenance.
What you will learn
- Recognise fire, explosion, gas, fume, burn and cylinder-handling hazards
- Plan hot work and apply permit controls in vehicle-workshop areas
- Check cylinders, regulators, hoses, valves and flashback protection
- Understand safe leak testing, purging, lighting and shutdown principles
- Avoid catastrophic work on contaminated tanks, drums, wheels and tyres
- Respond correctly to leaks, backfires, flashbacks and acetylene emergencies
- Control welding and cutting fume using ventilation, LEV, RPE and PPE
- Store, handle and transport cylinders safely
Training boundary: successful completion records the knowledge assessment only. It does not replace equipment-specific practical training, supervised assessment, manufacturer instructions, site rules or written employer authorisation.
