This practical-awareness course explains the risk-assessed cranked method used where a close-coupled tractor and semi-trailer do not provide safe service-access space when straight. It covers preparation, trailer and tractor parking brakes, fifth-wheel engagement, two tug tests, visual security, controlled cranking, airline and electrical connection, landing legs, suspension and final parking checks.
Competence boundary: online completion supports knowledge only. Employers must provide combination-specific instruction, supervised practice, practical assessment and written authorisation before a learner performs the task unsupervised.
