This awareness course explains how automotive technicians and supervisors can prevent hazardous brake and clutch dust becoming airborne. It covers job planning, asbestos uncertainty, safe vehicle preparation, contained or wet cleaning, PPE and assessed RPE, cleaning chemicals, waste, decontamination and stop-work rules.
Competence boundary: online completion supports knowledge only. Employers must provide task-specific assessment, practical instruction, observed competence and written authorisation. The course does not authorise asbestos work, sampling, friction-material grinding or drilling, vehicle lifting or practical brake or clutch maintenance.
